1.

Má tẹ sùn; awọ erin ni! / Don't lie on it; it's the hide of an elephant!
[Don't dare it!; a warning to someone not to outdare himself]
e.g. "Má tẹ sùn, Adé; awọ erin ni! Kí lo fi mí pè ná?" / "Don't dare it, Ade! What do you take me for?"

2.
Kí èyàn máà jẹ́ ẹran rírọ̀. / Not to be a 'soft meat'.
[For one not to be of such a simple disposition that can be easily fooled or taken advantage of]
e.g. "Bísí, o kúkú mọ̀ mí. O mọ̀ pé mi ò kì í ṣe ẹran rírọ̀ o." /
"Bisi, you know me well enough that I'm not one to be easily fooled or taken advantage of."

3.

Kí èyàn ya alétí lápá ọmọ / To become someone who has ears on his arm.
[To be disobedient]
e.g. "Adé, kílódé tóo ṣe fẹ́ ya alétí lápá ọmọ?" / "Ade, why have you chosen to be disobedient?"

4.
Kí ló ńjó ẹ lọ́wọ́ tí oò lè fi jó ilẹ̀? / What burn't your hands, that you can't cool it patting the ground?
[Why such an unbecoming act?]
e.g. "Yẹmí, kí ló fà yẹn? Kí ló ńjó ẹ lọ́wọ́ tóò lè fi jó'lẹ̀?" / "Yemi, What's the problem? Why such an unacceptable behaviour?"

5.
Kí èyàn gbé eegun eléegun. / To pick up a bone belonging to someone else.
[To marry the wrong spouse (or one destined for someone else).]
e.g. "O jẹ́ ṣọ́ra ẹ! Ọlọ́run ò ní jẹ́ ko lọ gbé eegun eléegun, ṣá." / "You had better be careful! May you not end up with a spouse destined for someone else."]
